Bicycle chains are an extremely effective drive. When a cyclist pedals, almost 100 percent of the pedalling power is transferred to the rear wheel. However, chains are constantly exposed to environmental influences such as rain and the resulting corrosion, dirt from mud, sand, dust and road grime. These contaminants can accumulate over time and form a stubborn layer of dirt on the chain. Due to the increased friction, the chain and drive wear down to the point of becoming unusable in a very short time. Regular cleaning and subsequent lubrication counteract wear and significantly prolongs the life of a chain.
F100 Chain Cleaner combines optimal creeping ability with perfect adhesion during action. The special gel formula cleans impurities automatically and thoroughly. The cleaner is also absolutely compatible with the material. It improves running properties by dissolving dirt particles and thus prevents wear and corrosion.

In contrast to motorbike chains, which have to withstand strong centrifugal forces, chains for a bicycle are mainly exposed to lateral stresses due to the shifting processes. If the necessary lubrication is lacking, the chain can run dry – the increased friction leading to premature wear. Too much oil, on the other hand, attracts road dirt, dust and sand. This mix of dirt and oil acts like sandpaper and also leads to heavy wear on the chain and sprocket.
It is therefore best to clean the chain thoroughly before oiling and then let it dry. While the chain is running over the smallest sprocket, apply the oil to the rollers at the joint gap. It is best to let the oil leave to act overnight. Then wipe off the excess oil from the outer sides of the chain with a dry cloth to prevent new dirt from adhering.
The motto “a lot helps a lot” does not apply to bicycle chains. Optimal care is achieved by dosing sparingly and repeating the care process. New oil should be applied every 2-3 rides. The maintenance cycle is shortened when riding in the rain or under extreme stress.
